Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Transportation Planner in California to join its growing transportation and infrastructure practice. This individual will contribute to the planning and delivery of a variety of transportation-related projects for both public and private sector clients. The role involves supporting multimodal transportation planning, mobility analysis, and infrastructure initiatives while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, project management experience, and a collaborative, client-focused approach.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage transportation planning and traffic analysis projects from proposal through completion.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and oversee technical studies and documentation, including:
    • Transportation impact analyses
    • Mobility and multimodal planning studies
    • Environmental review documentation (as applicable)
    • Parking and access evaluations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineering, environmental, and land development professionals.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering.
  • Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation planning principles, policies, and analytical methodologies.
  • Experience with transportation analysis tools and GIS platforms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management and client management experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $120,000 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
