Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Traffic/Transportation Design to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will drive the execution of a variety of transportation projects, contributing to the delivery of integrated solutions across public and private sector initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects involving roadway design, multimodal improvements, and mobility solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical capabilities, project management experience, and a collaborative, client-focused approach.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive project execution across transportation design and mobility initiatives from planning through design and implementation, ensuring alignment with overall project and team objectives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Oversee and contribute to technical work related to:
- Roadway and corridor design
- Traffic signal design and intersection control improvements
- Multimodal and Complete Streets design initiatives
- Traffic calming and operational improvements
- Parking, curb management, and site access analyses
- Transportation analyses and supporting technical documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineering, environmental, and planning professionals.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress to ensure quality delivery.
- Support coordination during implementation, including collaboration with construction teams and stakeholders.
- Prepare and review reports, design plans, and technical documentation.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings and presentations.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and design experience.
- Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of transportation design principles and mobility planning concepts.
- Experience with roadway design, traffic signal design, and multimodal infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry design standards and permitting processes.
- Proven experience managing projects, schedules, and budgets.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
