Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Project Controls Manager to join its collaborative Operations team out of its Parsippany Headquarters. This individual will serve a key function in performing comprehensive project control services for Langan’s Parsippany operations to ensure successful project financial management. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner closely with our leadership team in managing and achieving profitability goals on complex projects from initial setup through close out.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and control guidance & expertise on NYC agency client projects (SCA, DDC, NYCHA, PANYNJ, DEC, DEP, or other complex programs or clients;
  • Partner with assigned Project Managers (“PM”) and clients regarding budgets, contracts, monthly billings, payments, and other project related financial processes;
  • Function as a key partner to managing our profitability goals by creating the billing terms and process to align with client expectations and PM needs;
  • Assess project revenue goals and advise on financial strategy upon contract review;
  • Tracking of project milestones throughout the life of the project;
  • Track against profit and determine source of potential misses of budget and advise on the need for change-orders;
  • Review and maintain executed contracts, signed proposals, purchase orders and change orders;
  • Regular reconciliation of project budgets/invoicing with the client’s accounting team;
  • Conducts regular AR review with PM’s and clients;
  • Ensures that all charges are properly invoiced and paid by client prior to closeout; and
  • Make recommendations for write-offs that impacts individual and business chargeability. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in accounting or related field; equivalent experience considered;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role, preferable in A/C/E industry or professional services firm;
  • Understanding of bookkeeping procedures and 4+ years of relevant experience;
  • Ability to apply financial knowledge to projects;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Superior interpersonal skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Sound judgment capability and ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Internet research; Adobe Professional; and
  • Experience with Vision accounting software a plus.
