Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Technician/Data Specialist to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ.  This individual will serve a key function in assisting with a variety of field and office tasks including collecting field data and samples, conducting various types of environmental monitoring, and processing data using visual and statistical software. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top-notch professionals on remediation projects of varying sizes in NY and NJ.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with conducting various types of environmental monitoring (water, air, asbestos, lead) using basic field instruments;
  • Review and manage laboratory data, develop GIS figures and related report submittals;
  • Operate and maintain various remedial systems; such as drills, pumps, electrical equipment;
  • Assemble and maintain field equipment and systems; inspect equipment and troubleshoot as necessary;
  • Collect water samples from streams and lakes, raw, semi-processed or processed water, industrial waste water, or water from other sources to assess pollution problem;
  • Read and understand project specifications, drawings and plans;
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports;
  • Review laboratory data and assist with the preparation of reports; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred;
  • Hazwoper Certification, maintenance of annual physical and respirator fit test, annual Hazwoper 8 hr. re-certification, as required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, EQuIS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS preferred;
  • Current asbestos project monitor, air sampling technician, and inspector/evaluation specialist licenses preferred;
  • 2+ years’ prior related experience preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing; and
  • Ability to travel to various job sites and spend a majority of the work day on-site, as-required.
