Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Business Development Manager to join its collaborative team in its Parsippany Headquarters. This individual will serve a key function in identifying, evaluating, establishing and managing business development opportunities and relationships, and providing marketing event support for projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with Langan’s leadership team in New Jersey, as well as architects, contractors, developers, attorneys and other consultants to drive the firm’s growth.
Job Responsibilities
- Identifies, qualifies and secures business opportunities by cultivating and maintaining mutually beneficial business relationships with current and potential clients that can help strengthen and achieve the firm’s business goals and objectives;
- Identifies and proposes potential business opportunities by keeping track of market intelligence in the industry;
- Follows up with contacts made at events and provides technical leaders with contact information to develop and manage external relationships that can help strengthen and achieve the firm’s business goals and objectives;
- Collaborates with technical leaders to learn about ongoing projects and research appropriate events for company participation to assist in the expansion of business through increased event base;
- Strategizes with technical leaders regarding pursuing various proposal opportunities;
- Identifies and coordinates client-focused professional organizations and events to be sponsored or attended by staff;
- Develops and executes comprehensive plans and programs in support of business development;
- Prepares, researches, and writes compliant, persuasive text for proposals and qualification packages;
- Tracks activities to quantitative and qualitative metrics can be applied to business development practice and objectives; and
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field such as engineering or business;
- 5+ years of experience in sales, marketing or business development in the architectural, engineering, construction or real estate industry;
- Strong project management background;
- In-depth knowledge of and involvement in marketing and strategic business development;
- Superior interpersonal skills and persuasive presentation skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat/Reader, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator;
- Active participation in local professional organizations;
- Established networks and contacts in the A/E/C sector with corporate clients is preferred;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; and
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment with multiple deadlines, and;
- Ability to periodically visit branch offices.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $95,000 - $115,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
