Langan is seeking an Environmental Field Training Specialist to join its collaborative team in New York City. This individual will serve a key function in auditing staff's aptitude of field procedures, developing new and updating existing procedures, and providing QA/QC for field work product. In this role, you will have the opportunity to enhance Langan's existing field training program, train new environmental field staff, and provide remedial or specialized field training. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain Langan’s existing dynamic staff training program, seek 360-degree input to assess the effectiveness of the training program, and modify the program periodically and as necessary to optimize outcome;
  • Audit field work through on-site observation, review of field notes, daily field reports and soil boring logs;
  • Create and maintain a positive field culture working with staff to view audits of their work as constructive learning tools;
  • Monitor overall field/data QA/QC;
  • Create/update NYC field standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Be a member of Langan’s Environmental Discipline Lead (EDL) Standard/Consistency group;
  • Be a member of Langan’s Safety Group;
  • Maintain PPE inventory and conduct respirator fit tests;
  • Instruct staff and assist project teams in geologic and hydrogeologic data interpretation, including direct evaluation of: borehole logging data, lab analytical data, and head data;
  • Develop conceptual site models when requested and instruct staff on the basis of building conceptual site models;
  • Prepare and review health and safety plans;
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Geology or Engineering with a concentration in groundwater issues; MS preferred; 
  • 6+ years of leading field investigations and remediation oversight, established credibility in moving complex investigations forward that demonstrate critical thought and real time/in-situ data analysis; 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) licenses preferred; 
  • Mechanical skills such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and welding are a plus;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $92,500- $133,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
