Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join its collaborative team in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, FL.  This individual will serve a key function in assisting in environmental field work by collecting field data and samplesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top-notch professionals in a variety of geographic areas and regulatory programs, and to collaborate and learn from our multi-disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize mechanical knowledge to complete Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of environmental remediation system, including, but not limited to, vacuum blowers, air compressors, transfer pumps, flowmeters, and filters; 
  • Troubleshoot environmental remediation systems including identification of system alarms and faults as result of mechanical plumbing, electrical or other equipment failures;
  • Collect field measurements using precision instruments that measure gas concentrations, pressure/vacuum, air flow, etc., along with a variety of hand and power tools;
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of groundwater monitoring wells, piping systems, and electrically powered pumps or machinery;
  • Oversee construction of remedial systems, gas management systems, or other environmental related construction activities ;
  • Oversee and document work performed by trade contractors across excavation, construction, remediation, and waste disposal activities;
  • Collect air samples from remediation or gas management systems;
  • Collect water samples from monitoring wells, surface water, industrial wastewater systems, or other source for pollution assessments;
  • Maintaining data collection and equipment calibration logs;
  • Produce timely and detailed field notes and reports; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, completion of a relevant trade/technical school program, or related field preferred; 
  • HAZWOPER Certification, annual HAZWOPER 8 hr. refresher, as required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • 2+ years’ prior related experience preferred;
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively with on-site client representatives, contractors or operators;
  • Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing; and
  • Ability to travel to various job sites in a single work day, and spend full or partial work days on-site, as-required.
