Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor to join its collaborative team in Dallas or Tyler, TX. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with the reduction of field data and preparation of survey plans and CAD deliverables. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on small and large-scale projects including, but not limited to commercial, big box, warehouse, shopping center and residential projects in a technologically progressive environment.

Job Responsibilities

  •  Reduces field data for preparation of surveys by importing raw field files and using calculated points for survey plan preparation in CAD.
  •  Provides research for survey projects, including deed, utility, roadway and subdivision map research.
  •  Calculates coordinate data for construction layout.
  •  Drafts surveys and other plans using CAD.
  •  Remains current with changes and upgrades in CAD systems used and continually works to improve efficiency.
  •  Calculates invert and subsurface utility information based on field measurements and record maps.
  •  Plots deeds and assists Project Surveyor in boundary resolution.
  •  Prepares written descriptions.
  •  Assists with office filing, data download, and electronic file management.
  •  Recommends new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed.
  •  Remains current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best management practices and attends internal training and external lectures to expand knowledge and skills.
  •  Continuously improves communication skills, both written and verbal.
  •  Actively participates in internal Health and Safety training and has strong commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace and field.
  •  Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

 

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Experience in topographic, boundary, utility survey, construction layout, GPS 
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and surveying regulations 
  • Strong CAD and computer skills (Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Terramodel, Carlson, etc.) 
  • Proficient mathematical ability Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively 
  • Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups
