Job Summary
Langan is seeking an entry-level Environmental Engineer, Scientist or Geologist to join its collaborative team in Bethlehem, PA. The selected candidate will serve a key role in the team by supporting a diverse array of environmental and natural resources projects. This role will have both field and offices responsibilities. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients supported by technical experts and industry leaders in the engineering and science field.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of field work, including but not limited to: wetland and stream delineations, vegetation/tree surveys, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment site reconnaissance, soil, soil vapor, surface water and groundwater monitoring/sampling, test pit characterization, infiltration testing, and logging borings;
- Support completion of office work which may include: analysis and review of databases and mapping resources, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USASCE) permitting, preparation and writing of technical reports, data management, reduction and evaluation, and GIS dashboard usage;
- Work independently and with a team;
- Identify and discuss challenges identified during office or field work and complete both routine and complex tasks in support of project goals;
- communicate effectively and consistently with project team, supervisor, outside vendors, subcontractors, and clients; and
- Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Resource Management, or Geology;
- Minimum GPA of 3.0;
- 0-2 years of related experience;
- Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and desire to learn;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and reliable transportation to access remote job site locations;
- Prior relevant internship or professional work experience preferred;
- Applicants with an engineering degree are preferred to have EIT Certification, or current registration for FE exam;
- HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification preferred;
- Coursework and/or professional experience in natural resources, ecology, and/or environmental due diligence and remediation preferred; and
- Availability to work overtime as needed.
